All the school buildings have been closed because of the 'COVID-19'. The beginning of school and the university courses were all delayed until June, and students are taking online lectures. Since it's our first time to study through only online lectures, both students and professors have a hard time to get used to it as well as the dilemma of finding a solution to the ongoing discussion about the exams issue and the way in which they will be conducted.

To see the issue from a closer perspective, two of the KNU students are interviewed by a chatting application, and in the following article, you will discover their answers to three main questions.

-1st Interviewee: Do Kyeong Kim

-A third grade student in the department of Tourism management-

Q 1. What do think about studying online?

The current method of studying, which is the online lessons, is very comfortable for me since it allows me to save the time I spend on buses, which is quite long usually, and the transportation’s fee.

Q 2. What is the most disturbing thing about online lectures?

The lack of the face to face contact does not allow us to understand the lectures fully, the problem that can't be solved sometimes through an explanation by message or mail, especially for the assignments. Some of them are hard to understand, which sometimes leads the students to a misunderstanding. Additionally, this situation does not allow me as well to create a fixed schedule for my daily life since no one is certain about the time we will go back to classes.

Q 3. Do you have an advice or a suggestion to improve the online lectures?

I guess technicians and engineers should be ready to take in change the server at any moment, to allow the students to do their homework as fast as possible in case of any problem. I also hope to receive the whole semester's schedule as soon as possible.

-2st Interviewee: Jae Hyeon An

– 21 years old, a nursing student-

Q 1. What do think about online studying?

Whenever you want to take the lectures, you can take them. This is the best benefit for me since I can control my schedule the way I want. It gives us the possibility to check the assignments online, and this is very good for the people who forget things easily, like me. Also, I think there are some students hating group meetings, so the current situation is perfect for them to study alone.

Q 2. What is the most disturbing thing about online lectures?

During the first few days, 'e-ruri' server went down all day, and we couldn't watch the lectures for a few weeks, but things are better now. Besides, some lectures need practical work, which isn't possible with online videos as well as the difficulty of concentrating during the online lectures is serious.

I even heard some cases of professors who gave students assignments without the detailed notice. I’m also worrying about the exams and the difficulty of supervising the students when they are taken online, and I believe that the exams that might be difficult even with the open-book option.

Q 3. Do you have an advice or a suggestion to improve the online lectures?

There should be limits on online lectures and for a better quality of lectures, more detailed evaluations of professors. Also, it would be better to have a question-and-answer session once a week through a video call.
