After COVID-19, the transition to a non-face-to-face society is taking place. This change was going on even before the Corona crisis. Pandemics situation has prompted such a change. Due to COVID-19, people try to minimize contact with others as much as possible. Therefore, 'untact(non-face-to-face) lifestyle' was enough to attract attention from consumers. Untact is a compound word that combines with “Un-” and “Contact”. This trend has caused various changes in people's life patterns. According to the April 2020 press release on online shopping trends of the Korea Statistics, online shopping transactions increased by 12.5 percent year-on-year to 12.26 trillion won, while mobile shopping transactions increased by 18.4 percent to 7.9621 trillion won. I looked at the changes in our lives due to non-face-to-face services from three sectors: education, shopping, and exercise.
Boom of video platforms in education
First, the use of video platforms and the sale of home-schooling products became more active as the demand for video education increased. Elementary, middle, and high school students started off the new semester for online in April. Elementary and middle school students used the "e-learning center" operated by the Korea Education & Research Information Service under the Ministry of Education, while high school students used the "EBS Online Class." College students use the internet lecture platform of each university, or they use video chat platforms. The video chat platform used a lot in college is Zoom. Video education was very popular not only in public education but also in private education. According to G-market and Auction's analysis of home-schooled product sales data in 2020 (January-April), the total amount of transactions has increased more than tripled (214%) compared to the same period last year. Adults are turning to non-face-to-face education services based on the Internet. Contents about English conversation and studying a second foreign language are now popular among adults.
New system of circulation market
Secondly, the Circulation market of Korea is changing, such as online-oriented market reorganization, online fresh food market growth, and live commerce, AR, and VR services. Social commerce recorded a large market share due to the influence of COVID-19. Social commerce seemed to shake for a while due to the outbreak of the "COVID-19" infections at logistics centers by major companies Coupang and Market Curly, but consumers chose alternative companies. In fact, in the case of social commerce SSG.COM, sales of dawn delivery service on May 29 increased by 40 percent, and the number of orders increased by 15 percent compared to May 28. Live commerce is a combination of streaming video and e-commerce, and it is a service that allows users to look at products through video and receive guidance on products without going directly to the store. It enables Two-way communication through chatting between sellers and buyers. Furthermore, innovative distribution methods such as AR(augmented reality) and VR(virtual reality) will become more common. Specific examples of the already popular untact service include drive-through, self-checkout counters, mobile order and payment systems, and self-stores.
At-home workout instead of the health club
Third, the influence of COVID-19 has led people to prefer the At-home workout instead of the health club. Because they want to avoid contact with people but can't stop exercising, which is the vitality of life. In e-commerce, sales of At-home workout products rose vertically, and the number of members of companies offering online personal training (PT) services increased significantly. People are easily attracted to At-home workout because it is cheaper than the cost of going to the gym. Also, information related to At-home workout on the internet is abundant. With the prolonged COVID-19 crisis, at-home workout, which allows people to take care of their health and refresh themselves at home, is expected to have a brighter future.
