What’s My Netflix Taste?

Netflix is one of the leading OTT platforms and among the first to open the global OTT market. Based on data collected between September 15 and 21, this article examines the top Netflix content in Korea, Japan, the United States, and worldwide.

 

Korea

Yadang is a crime film about an informant in the drug world, caught between a prosecutor and a detective. Queen Mantis follows the story of a serial killer once nicknamed “Mantis,” who murdered five men. Two decades later, a copycat appears, and the killer’s son—now a police officer—teams up with his father to track him down. Bon Appétit, Your Majesty tells the story of a modern chef who time-travels to the past, meets a tyrant, and transforms his village through cooking. You and Everything else portrays the lifelong friendship between two people from their teenage years into their forties. Korean viewers tend to favor Netflix original productions.

 

Japan

Chainsaw Man follows Denji, a boy who makes a pact with the devil Pochita and becomes the Chainsaw Man, later working for the government’s Devil Hunter division. As Long As We Both Shall Live is a romantic comedy about two introverted coworkers who plan a fake marriage to avoid overseas transfers. Sin and Evil begins with the discovery of a boy’s body, which revives a 22-year-old unsolved case in a small town. Hana-Kimi depicts a girl from the U.S. who disguises herself as a boy to transfer into a Japanese boys’ school and meet her idol, a high-jump athlete. Dan Da Dan tells the story of a girl who believes in ghosts and a boy who believes in UFOs; in trying to prove each other wrong, they encounter supernatural events. Japanese viewers tend to watch romantic comedies.

 

United States

The Wrong Paris is about a man and woman who, after an emergency landing on a flight to Paris, pretend to be a couple. Ice Road: Vengeance depicts a protagonist’s deadly struggle for survival against mercenaries on a treacherous ice road. Beauty in Black follows Kimi, a woman trying to escape her past and start anew. Raw is a professional wrestling show. Black Rabbit portrays a brother who attempts to drag his sibling back into the shadows of his past. American viewers tend to prefer action and thriller genres.

 

Worldwide

The top content for the week was The Wrong Paris in the movie section and Wednesday and Black Rabbit in the TV show section. Wednesday tells the story of Wednesday Addams as she enters Nevermore Academy, uncovering both her parents’ past and a series of murders. Globally, the Top 10 content rankings show little fluctuation, and viewers tend to prefer Netflix originals.

Netflix continues to create localized original content, and these productions consistently rank high in each country’s Top 10. With so many different OTT contents coming out, Everyone enjoys watching OTTs according to their own tastes.
