The Chuncheon Bus Line Will Be Reorganized after 56 Years.

The Chunchon City Bus line will be reorganized entirely after 56 years of operation in order to increase the access of the city's inhabitants to its facilities. Chuncheon city has decided to reduce the number of downtown lines to 14 and let them run four main routes that rotate the main streets of the town. Accordingly, instead of reducing the number of bus routes from 89 to 48, by shortening the interval between buses from 33 minutes to 17 minutes, the number of buses will be increased from 1,170 a day to 1,520 a day, up 30 percent. Especially during rush hour, the bus schedule is expected to be shorter. In the past, most of the bus routes passed through the main road, but this time, Chuncheon city hall has decided to cut traffic congestion by 40 percent.

New "Youth" line pass through Kangwon National University

In particular, for the first time since Chuncheon City Bus Line was established, the city municipal government decided to expand the convenience of students using buses by setting a new youth line that passes through the campus of Kangwon National University. There were many difficulties in organizing a new youth line. There was a conflict between Kangwon National University and the taxi industry.

On May 2, the third meeting was held at Chuncheon City Hall, the final meeting among Kangwon National University, the taxi industry, and Chuncheon City, to discuss the agenda about the establishment of a new bus route through the campus of KNU.  Kangwon National University demanded the establishment of a new bus route through the campus, and the taxi industry insisted that the way around the school should be restructured, citing the right to survive.

Currently, there are only two types of public transportation that arrive directly from Namchuncheon Station to Kangwon National University's main gate: a shuttle bus and a taxi. 

However, the city bus is faced away by most students as it takes more than 30 minutes to get to Kangwon National University by detouring Myeong-dong, Chuncheon's city. After discussion, the deal was reached, and the city bus 'Youth Route' for college students is scheduled to be introduced. With the bus route reformed, there also will be newly established bus stops in the KNU campus.

Taking a bus from Namchuncheon Station to Kangwon National University, it takes about 10 to 15 minutes. With the complete change in the local bus system after 56 years, it will take some time for citizens to adjust. The city of Chuncheon is trying to minimize inconvenience to citizens at the beginning of the reshuffle, and Information assistants will be assigned to each platform and bus.
