The 21st Century Skills to Survive the 4IR
To keep you updated, we are now in the fourth industrial revolution. It's changing the way we live, think, and also work. It is transforming entire industries, how things are made, consumed, and even how countries are governed.
But, the main worry for youth as well as business leaders is whether or not robots will replace human beings in workplaces, and if it will be possible to find young people with the skills or qualifications required for the open positions.
According to a World Economic Forum report, The Future of Jobs, here are the skills you will need for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, after asking chief human resources and strategy officers from leading global employers:
- Complex Problem Solving
- Critical Thinking
- Creativity
- People Management
- Coordinating with Others
- Emotional Intelligence
- Judgment and Decision Making
- Service Orientation
- Negotiation
- Cognitive Flexibility
Learn the irreplaceable skills!
During the upcoming period, robots will probably take control of the majority of jobs. Human beings should start thinking seriously about learning the skills that will help them keep controlling the labor market. Most reports show that industries such as transportation, agriculture, admin, office & support, accommodation & food services, and production & manufacturing industries will have fewer people working for maintaining those industries.
However, jobs in cookery, writing, tourism, design, and medical care, where human qualities are essential, will be more resistant to change than other fields.
This is why business leaders and human resources specialist suggests that the young generation to should focus more on human characteristics such as creativity and empathy since it's hard to replace them and they will be less affected – for now at least –.
